ELECTRIC VEHICLE DISPLAY JULY 22
Join us for an electric vehicle display from 10:00am-1:00pm on July 22. The display features a rare 1975 Vanguard CitiCar, owned by Kriss Davis; an Organic Transit ELF electric tricycle, owned by Ralph Huckstadt; and a Mitsubishi i-MiEV from the Town of Normal fleet.
The small, wedge-shaped Vanguard CitiCar was the first electric car to be mass-produced in the United States. Only 2,500 were ever produced.
The ELF is a three-wheeled electric tricycle with enclosed seating, full light packages, and reaches speeds of up to 20 mph under electric-only power. It can be charged by a standard wall outlet and has a roof-mounted solar panel that can be used to trickle-charge its lithium iron phosphate battery. Or, the 92-pound vehicle can be pedaled.
The Mitsubishi i-MiEV is one of 12 i-MiEVs leased by the Town of Normal in support of the EV-Town initiative, which was launched in 2011. The Town also purchased 49 charging stations that still make up part of the robust EV-charging infrastructure in Normal/Bloomington. The i-MiEV contains a 47-kilowatt (63 horsepower) electric motor powered by a 16 kWh lithium ion battery. It’s cruising range for a full charge, as rated by the US-EPA, is 62 miles.
This event is part of Lincoln's Festival on Route 66. More information about additional Festival activities is available at www.lincolnsfestival.net.
